At 16 years 174 days, Lewin Nyatanga became the youngest-ever Wales Under-21 international when he came on as a substitute in the UEFA Championship qualifier against Germany at Wrexham on 8 February 2005.
He qualifies for Wales through his grandmother who was born in Newport.
Lewin's contract at Derby County was extended to June 2008 in December 2005 then to June 2011 in July 2007.
On St David's Day 2006, Lewin became Wales' youngest-ever full international at 17 years and 195 days in a friendly against Paraguay at the Millennium Stadium.
Ryan Green was the previous Wales record holder when he made his debut against Malta in June 1998 at the age of 17 years 226 days.
Lewin held the record until May 2006 when it was broken by Southampton's Gareth Bale.
He joined Bristol City in July 2009 with a four-year contract.
Lewin joined Barnsley in July 2013 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2017 in June 2015.
