Roget established a strong central defensive partnership with Phil Whelan at Southend United at the beginning of 2000-01, although he again ran into disciplinary problems. He subsequently moved on loan to First Division Stockport County in March and the deal became permanent shortly before the end of the campaign. He played the odd game in midfield for the Hatters but looked much more impressive when employed on the left-hand side of a three-man defensive formation where his pace, mobility and strength in the air were used to good effect.
Roget joined Brentford on a non-contract basis on the eve of the 2002-03 season with a permanent deal soon agreed to the end of the season. Although it was extended in May 2003 up to June 2004, Roget was made available for transfer in September 2003. He joined Rushden & Diamonds in January 2004 with a contract to June 2004. He then joined Oxford United with a one-year contract.
