Philpott linked up again with new Hull City boss Brian Little during the 2000 close season, having previously played for him when he was manager at Leicester City.
He produced some outstanding displays from the turn of the year and contributed to the Tigers rise up the table.
His first goal for the Boothferry Park club was the winner against Halifax Town in March and coincided with the 450th appearance of his career.
Philpott is a skilful wide left midfield player with the ability to beat defenders and deliver an accurate cross.
He went on Hull's transfer list at the end of the 2001-02 season.
