PositionMidfielder

A dynamic and tireless performer in the centre of the park for Leeds United, he showed he was one of the best all-round midfield players in the country.

His goal-scoring ability makes him of great value to the team and he again weighed in with some telling contributions, none more so than in the Champions' League, where he was the tournament's joint-top scorer at the quarter-final stage.

His speculative 25-yard effort that slipped through the AC Milan goalkeeper's fingers in the last minute of their tie at Elland Road set the club on their way to European success and indeed his performances were a model of consistency throughout the season.

Following his brief stint at West Ham United, Lee joined Newcastle United in July 2003 in a four-year deal.

Despite a succession of well-documented off-the-field problems, but for an astonishing incident with Kieron Dyer in front of the St James' Park faithful, Lee usually displayed his midfield skills to a high level of consistency.

After a loan spell, Lee joined Birmingham City in July 2009 with a two-year contract.

He joined Ipswich Town in July 2011 with a one-year contract.
