Having joined Sheffield United as a player-coach in the close season, it was not until late October that Keith won a regular place in the starting line-up when he replaced Lee Sandford in the centre of defence.
Although his initial performances were not particularly convincing, he returned later in the campaign and gave some fine displays.
An experienced central defender, he has great anticipation and the confidence to bring the ball forward out of defence.
Keith was appointed player / manager of Mansfield Town on 3 December 2002.
