Jóhann Gudmundsson made just two senior appearances for Watford in 2000-01, both in Worthington Cup ties, and in November he went on loan to Cambridge United where he played a handful of games before returning.
Increasingly homesick he was eventually released by the Hornets and after briefly going back to Iceland he signed for Lyn Oslo in time for the start of the new Scandinavian 2001 season. He is a neat right winger with good skills on the ball.
