Durnin made just the two League Cup appearances for Liverpool.
Out of contract in the summer of 2000, Durnin spent time training with Tranmere Rovers to keep in shape before linking up with Football League new boys Kidderminster in October. He added much needed experience to the squad and quickly settled in, scoring from close range on his debut at Lincoln and then adding two more the following Tuesday in the 2-1 win at Darlington. He went on to score in three consecutive games over the new year and finished the season as the Harriers' joint-leading scorer. A vastly experienced striker who has scored regularly throughout his career, Durnin played for Port Vale in the 2001-02 season on a week-to-week contract. The agreement was renewed for 2002-03.
