Joey's contract at Manchester City was extended to June 2007 in September 2004, then to June 2010 in July 2006.
He joined Newcastle United in June 2007 with a five-year contract.
An England one-cap wonder, Joey's controversial career was revived at Newcastle following an infamous training ground incident at Manchester City.
