Northern Ireland international with some 500 club appearances to his name. Jim was still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of last term although he enjoyed a testimonial match against Manchester City shortly before the start of the season. He eventually recovered fitness towards the end of the year but then left Edgeley Park in rather acrimonious circumstances and signed a short-term contract for Crewe Alexandra. Used as cover by boss Dario Gradi his vast experience proved of value in a young team and whenever he was called upon he performed well. An effective central defender who is strong in the air . His release by the Railwaymen in the summer was closely followed by a move back to his native Ireland.
