Capped 9 times for England Under-21, Jason topped 600 appearances at club level.
He holds the record for the youngest player to score in the English top-flight when he netted against Coventry City at the age of 16 years and 57 days.
Jason appeared regularly for Colchester United in the first half of the 2000-01 season but he suffered a toe injury towards the end of the year and, following surgery, he was sidelined until the summer break.
A vastly experienced central midfield player, he has excellent distribution and at his best can dictate the pace and flow of games.
Jason retired in September 2001 due to his continuing injury problems.
