| Born | 04 January 1986, Leeds |
| Nationality | English |
| Weight | 70 kg |
| Height | 1.80 m |

James moved to Newcastle United for £3.6million whilst still a teenager as Leeds United staved off financial ruin.
He re-joined his former Leeds manager David O'Leary at Aston Villa on a season's loan in 2005-06.
Two months after Everton's Wayne Rooney claimed the title, James became the Premiership's youngest-ever scorer when he netted at Sunderland on Boxing Day 2002, aged 16 years and 357 days.
The record in English top-flight football still belonged to Jason Dozzell who scored for Ipswich Town against Coventry City on 4 February 1984 in the old First Division, aged 16 years and 57 days.
James joined Newcastle United in July 2004 with a contract to June 2009 that was extended to June 2011 in July 2007.
After over 100 consistent appearances, the Toon welcomed a handsome profit as the England Under-21 caps record holder moved to Aston Villa for £12million.
He returned to Aston Villa in August 2008 with a four-year contract.
James joined Manchester City in August 2010 with a five-year contract.
