The son of former Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore changed his surname to Thomas-Moore in June 2009 following his marriage to Victoria Thomas.

Ian hit form early on in 2000-01 at Stockport County, netting two goals in the opening day 3-1 win at Gillingham and he quickly attracted the attention of other clubs.

Having turned down Norwich City, he chose to sign for Second Division rivals Burnley who paid their first-ever £1 million fee to secure his services.

Although arriving with a reputation as one of the First Division's top marksmen, it soon became clear that his value to the Clarets was his speed, skill and non-stop commitment as much as his goal-scoring exploits.

His first goal for the club came at Preston North End with a beautifully crafted 20-yard shot that curled into the net but the promise of more to come was not really fulfilled until he linked up with loan man Gareth Taylor towards the end of the campaign.

Ian joined Leeds United in March 2005 with a contract to June 2007.

He was made available for transfer by Hartlepool United in January 2008.

Ian's contract at Tranmerer Rovers was extended to June 2011 in July 2009.

He teamed-up with his father againat Rotherham United in January 2011 with a contract to June 2012 that was cancelled in June 2011.
