Craney was previously associated with Runcorn.
Following a loan spell, he joined Swansea City in January 2007 with a contract to June 2009.
After a loan spell, Craney returned to Accrington Stanley in January 2008 with a contract to June 2011.
He joined Huddersfield Town in August 2008 with a three-year contract that was cancelled in April 2010.
After a loan spell, Craney re-joined Accrington Stanley in January 2011 with a contract to June 2012.
He joined Rochdale in August 2012 on non-contract terms.
