Ian Brightwell, who is a former England Under-21 international, was appointed first team coach at Port Vale in June 2003.
He also extended his playing contract at Vale Park for the 2003-04 season.
Ian followed his former Manchester City and Port Vale boss Brian Horton to Macclesfield Town in July 2004 as player/reserve team manager.
