This young defender joined Wigan Athletic from Irish league club Glentoran at the start of last season. He went on to make his senior debut in the FA Cup second round replay against Notts County and featured in a handful more games later in the campaign. A versatile defender who can play either at centre half or right back, Hugh has good pace and is strong in the challenge. He was placed on stand-by for the Northern Ireland U21 squad in March and will be looking to win a regular place in the Latics' first-team squad in the coming season. Hugh is a cousin of Preston's David Healy.
