Essentially a reserve defender, Bert Whalley's career spanned WW2. Chiefly remembered as United's coach, developing 'The Babes'. Very popular, but tragically died at Munich.
Played nearly two hundred WWII war time games for Manchester United and guested for Oldham Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool.
