Having missed most of the 1999-2000 campaign with a broken leg, George made a brief return to the Wolves' squad at the beginning of 2000-01 but was then sidelined by a groin strain and it was not until November that he came back into the side. He soon celebrated his first goal for Wanderers against Grimsby Town but it was not until the New Year that he really came into his own, netting two in the Black Country 'derby' against West Bromwich Albion and then racing away from the Birmingham City defence to score an early winner at St Andrews. A speedy left-sided forward he has an electrifying turn of pace, a high work rate and a good eye for goal.
George extended his contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers to June 2006 in June 2005 but retired due to injury in April 2006.
