A top class inside-forward (1934-37), leading scorer, an exceptional talent. Hard-up United could not resist Preston's cash offer in 1937. He is best remembered for winning the FA Cup for Preston NE against Huddersfield Town in the last minute of extra time, the only goal of the game.
He also played for Avondale, Hawthorn and Banks o' Dee.
