England international George Hilsdon moved to Chelsea in May 1906 and returned to West Ham United in the summer of 1912. He scored five goals on his Chelsea debut and six in an FA Cup tie against Worksop in the FA Cup. Nick-named 'Gatling Gun' he was injured by mustard gas near Arras with the East Surreys in 1918.
