A tall and versatile defender, with Liverpool Gary Ablett won the 1st Division Championship in 1988 and 1990, FA Cup in 1989 and FA Cup runners-up medal in 1988. In 1991 he was transferred to Everton for £750,000 where he won the FA Cup in 1995. He later joined Blackpool.
