Having enjoyed a successful loan spell at Carrow Road towards the end of the 1999- 2000 campaign, Gaetano joined Norwich City on a permanent basis in the close season.
A rangy frontrunner, with a cool head in front of goal, 'Tano' was just settling into the rigours of English football when he was cruelly cut down by a cruciate ligament injury sustained in the home game against Sheffield United in October 2000.
Prior to this, he had already scored five goals and was showing signs of establishing an excellent partnership with Iwan Roberts.
He was unlikely to return to action before the end of 2001 following a complication in the surgery process.
Gaetano joined Darlington in July 2006 with a one-year contract.
