Lilley featured regularly for Oxford United in the first half of 2000-01, netting a couple of goals including one in rather bizarre circumstances that led to it being included in the 'What Happened Next' feature of the 'Question of Sport' television programme.

The goal came when Reading 'keeper Phil Whitehead slid out of play when trying to prevent a corner and left the ball stranded on the line for Lilley to walk it into the net.

He subsequently joined Scottish Premier League club Dundee United in December, scoring against Rangers on his debut and finishing with a respectable tally of six goals from 18 appearances.

He is an experienced striker who is very quick and has a high work rate.

Lilley joined Boston United in July 2004 in a three-year deal but, for family reasons, his contract was soon cancelled and he agreed a new two-year spell with Livingston.
