With Middlesbrough 2nd Division Champion 1974. Moved to West Bromwich Albion in January 1979 and returned to Middlesbrough via Newcastle United in June 1984. David became Britain's most expensive player when he moved from Middlesbrough to West Bromwich Albion. A striker or attacking midfielder, he joined Newcastle on loan in 1982 but his permanent move was delayed by a year as United couldn't meet the £100,000 asking price.
