David Greene joined Cardiff City on a three-year deal in July 2000, but although he featured regularly in the early-season games he had few opportunities to make an impact after new owner Sam Hammam arrived and began to bring in new faces.
He eventually moved on to Cambridge United in March where he made his club debut in the local derby at Peterborough, which proved to be his only appearance for the Us in the closing weeks of the campaign.
David was a big strong right-sided central defender who was good in the air.
Unfortunately, he was forced to retire in October 2001 due to a knee injury.
