David is the son of former Newcastle United keeper Eddie Edgar.
The Canadian defender netted a memorable 25-yard goal to earn a draw against Manchester United during his first start for Newcastle.
He joined Burnley in July 2009 with a four-year contract that was extended to June 2014 in January 2012.
