Moved to Aston Villa in September 1955 and returned to Everton via Huddersfield Town in August 1957.
Everton fans were distraught when 'Dashing' Dave moved to Liverpool in 1959. However, despite an excellent scoring ratio, he stayed just two seasons before being off-loaded to Cambridge City.
