The powerfully built Macclesfield Town skipper mostly played in his favoured centre-back position in 2000-01.
A commanding figure with a good turn of speed, he is also one of the best defensive headers of the ball in the Third Division.
Darren has committed himself to the Moss Rose club for the foreseeable future and outside football, he is in the first year of a four-year part-time course at Salford University leading to a BSc (Hons) degree in physiotherapy.
Darren joined Shrewsbury Town in July 2003 in a two-year deal.
