Cristiano Ronaldo
| Born | 05 February 1985, Madeira |
| Nationality | Portuguese |
| Weight | 75 kg |
| Height | 1.84 m |
| Position | Midfielder/Forward |
This fabulously talented wing man became an instant hit at Old Trafford with all the makings of a world-class player.
Cristiano's contract at Manchester United was extended to June 2010 in November 2005, then to June 2012 in April 2007.
Cristiano scored Portugal's second goal with a penalty in the Group D 2-0 victory against Iran in the 2006 World Cup finals with the win that meant they progressed to the knockout stages of the World Cup finals for the first time since 1966.
It was also Portugal's first penalty in the World Cup finals since Eusebio scored in their final game of the 1966 tournament - the 3rd/4th Play-Off against USSR at Wembley.
With that penalty, Cristiano Ronaldo also became Portugal's youngest-ever goal scorer at a World Cup finals at the age of 21 years and 132 days.
The previous record was also set in 1966 when, at 22 years and 217 days, Antonio Simoes scored in a 3-1 defeat of Brazil at Everton's Goodison Park.
Cristiano joined Real Madrid in July 2009 with a six-year contract for a new world record fee, reported to be £80 million. During 2010-11 he set a new Spanish League record with 42 goals.
