Highly rated by Joe Royle, Chris spent the majority of the 2000-01 season playing for Manchester City reserves where he produced some impressive appearances.

He was loaned to Third Division Macclesfield Town on Transfer Deadline Day to gain experience of first-team football and made his senior debut from the subs' bench in the home win against Blackpool.

A tricky and pacy left winger who is not afraid to tackle, Chris scored his first senior goal with a fine header to give Macc a 1-0 victory over Kidderminster Harriers at the beginning of April 2001.

Chris joined Barnsley in March 2004 with a contract to June 2005.

He joined Tranmere Rovers in July 2006 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2010 in August 2007.

Chris joined Morecambe in August 2010 with a one-year contract.

He joined Port Vale in February 2012 on non-contract terms.

Chris announced his retirement in May 2014 due to a knee injury.
