Released by Ipswich Town before joining the Portman Road professional ranks, Ashley signed a one-year contract with Third Division Darlington in July 2002.
He moved on to Cambridge United in July 2004 with a two-year contract.
After a loan spell, Ashley joined Rushden & Diamonds in January 2006 with a contract to the end of the season.
He has also played for Maidenhead United, Bishop's Stortford, Newport County and Eastleigh.
