Stubbins must be one of the few players whose careers were greatly enhanced during the war-time games as he exceeded the 40-goals mark in three seasons for Newcastle. His amazing tally of 29 hat-tricks for United was sure to attract higher placed clubs and he duly joined Liverpool shortly after normal service was resumed in 1946. At Anfield, he earned legendary status with 83 goals in 180 games.

With Liverpool, 1st Division Champion 1947 FA Cup runner-up 1950. The legendary Liverpool striker became a cult figure at Anfield. Scored on his Liverpool debut versus Bolton Wanderers.
