Comments:

Unused substitutes: Shay Given, Peter Ramage and Paul Huntington Some sources credited Newcastle United's second goal to Charles N'Zogbia or a Robert Novak own goal. However, Alan Shearer confirmed on the club's official web site that he was the scorer: "Try and take it off me! "Of course I'm claiming it. It took a deflection but I thought I got to the ball just as it's gone over the line. "The referee has said that to me as well so that's good enough for me. He's happy enough to give it to me, so try and take it off me!" UEFA later ruled that the goal should be credited to Charles N'Zogbia.
