Comments:

League position: 9th Wolverhampton Wanderers had now failed to score in four of their last seven home games in the Premier League. Had they avoided defeat, Wolves would have become the first newly-promoted team to take at least 30 points from their first 21 games in a Premier League season since Birmingham City in 2009-10. This was the first time they had lost their opening league game of a year since 2013 when they lost 3-1 at Crystal Palace in the League Championship on New Year's Day.

Comments:

League position: 14th Crystal Palace had now won consecutive away games in the same Premier League season for the first time since April 2017. Palace had now taken 402 points from 371 games in the Premier League. The Eagles avoided failing to score in three consecutive games in the Premier League within a season for the first time since the opening three games under Roy Hodgson in September 2017.
