Comments:

League position: 5th This was West Bromwich Albion's first draw at home in the Premier League since 15 October 2016 against Tottenham Hotspur (1-1). The Baggies failed in their attempt to win their first three games of a top division season for the first time since 1978-79. Albion had now scored two goals in their last six Premier League games at The Hawthorns. West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis said: "I think we had the best chances. You look at the money that Stoke have invested and they are a good side. We wanted Kurt Zouma but couldn't afford that loan fee. The chairman has just come in and we are hoping we can bring the players in we need. We have specific areas, and specific players."

League position: 11th His goal in this game was Peter Crouch's 13th goal in the Premier League after coming on as a substitute. Only six players had scored more in the competition's history when coming off the bench. 36 year-old Peter Crouch had now scored three of the Potters last four Premier League goals. City had now scored four goals in their last ten away games in the Premier League. Stoke City manager Mark Hughes said: "We were the team that was pushing to the end. It wasn't a high quality game, a poor game, I have to admit. But you have to stick with it. The conditions took the edge off both sides. Warm day, long grass, no water on the pitch."
