Comments:

League position: 12th Watford had now equalled their club record for the most home wins in a Premier League season (also six in 2015-16). They had now kept two clean sheets in their last 19 Premier League games. Miguel Britos scored his first Premier League goal in his 48th Premier League appearance. Etienne Capoue was booked in the third minute of added time in the second-half. Watford manager Walter Mazzarri said: "It gives me great satisfaction but the one area we have to improve on is the last pass. It was very deserved."

Comments:

League position: 20th Sunderland had now failed to score in five consecutive games in the top division for the first time since February 1982. They had now failed to score seven of their last eight Premier League games. The Black Cats had now won one of their last 12 Premier League games (lost eight). Following his recall to the England team, Jermain Defoe had now failed to score in his last five Premier League games after scoring six goals in his six previous games. Sunderland manager David Moyes said: "Set pieces were always going to be difficult. We had done a good job but on one where we turned off it cost us. We are trying to score a goal, trying to create more. We lacked quality and when we did get an opportunity we didn't take it."
