Comments:

Turkey qualified for this UEFA European Championship finals by finishing as runners-up to reigning FIFA World Cup holders France in Group H (23 points from ten games). They only conceded three goals in qualifying for Euro 2020; the best defensive record along with Belgium. Turkey had now won two and lost two of the five games they had played in neighbouring Baku.

Comments:

Only France (six) had now won more games at the UEFA European Championship finals of 2016 and 2020 than Wales (five). They had now failed to score in one of their eight games at UEFA European Championship finals; the 2-0 semi-final defeat against Portugal in 2016. Gareth Bale missed a penalty after 61 minutes. He had now failed to score in his last 13 games for Wales; his longest such run since 2010.
