Comments:

League position: 2nd Having now won five and drawn two, Tottenham Hotspur's only better seven-game start to a top division campaign was now their 1960-61 title-winning season. Having conceded only three goals, Spurs had the best defensive record so far (seven games) in this Premier League season. They had now scored at least one goal in each of their last 17 Premier League games.

Comments:

League position: 1st Manchester City failed in their attempt to become the second team to win their opening seven games of a Premier League season. Chelsea won their first nine in in 2005-06. In their 12th game in all competitions, this was their first defeat under new manager Pep Guardiola. City had now only avoided defeat once in Premier League history when they had been two or more goals behind at half-time (a 2-2 draw against Liverpool on the final day of the 1995-96 season). The last time they won a Premier League after trailling by two goals was in a 3-2 win at Blackburn Rovers on 17 April 1995 when former Tottenham Hotspur forward Paul Walsh scored the winning goal.
