League position: 22nd Although some sources mysteriously credited Wrexham’s goal to Craig Faulconbridge, Kevin Sharp was subsequently confirmed as the Robins’ scorer. The match report from the club’s official web site reads: “Some dispute on 56 minutes about who actually scored Wrexham’s first goal of the night. Gibson had won the corner but KEVIN SHARP crossed into the near post where Roberts attempted to head it on. “The young Welshman seemed to miss his effort and the cross carried to a Andy Gurney at the back post who got a foot behind it, but only knocked the ball into the roof of the net. It did seem, from a distance, that the defender was behind the line when he made contact with the ball.” Striker Lee Trundle, who was close to the incident, later said: “It was Sharpy. Steve Roberts didn’t touch it and their lad was over the line when he tried to kick it out.”
