Comments:

League position: 13th Peter Crouch became the oldest player to score in the Premier League so far in this season (36 years and 243 days old) and had now scored four of his last five Premier League goals as a substitute. Fraser Forster saved Saido Berahino's 42nd minute penalty who had now failed to score with his last three Premier League penalties and failed to score in his last in 31 hours and 48 minutes of play in the Premier League. This was the Potters' first win in their last six league and cup games (lost three). Stoke City manager Mark Hughes said: "Crouchy is invaluable. He's a great guy, a fantastic personality to have within your club. He's been doing that kind of thing all through his career. I probably frustrate him on occasions because he still wants to start and I keep him back to have an impact, but when he comes on late in games he will always affect opposition defences."

League position: 12th This was Southampton's first defeat in their last five away games in the Premier League. Maya Yoshida scored his first goal in an away game in the Premier League since February 2014. The Saints had failed to score in ten of their preceding 14 Premier League games. Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino said: "We were unlucky, we were pushing until the end and we put them under pressure all the time. It's part of football. They scored two goals and we scored one, we have to learn for the future. We deserved a little bit more but it's the third or fourth game that we are talking about the same history. I can't say anything because our attitude was really good until the end."
