League position: 9th Stoke City failed in their attempt to go five consecutive Premier League games without defeat for the first time since March 2014. Marko Arnautovic had now scored seven goals in his last ten Premier League games at the Britannia Stadium. Jon Walters replaced Erik Pieters in the second minute of added time in the second half.

League position: 7th Graziano Pelle scored as many goals in this game as he had in his previous 17 Premier League appearances. He had now scored four of his nine goals in away games for Southampton in all competitions at the Britannia Stadium. Sadio Mane was shown a red card and dismissed in the first minute of added time in the second half. Southampton had now had six players sent-off in the Premier League in this season; more than any other team. However, his subsequent claim for wrongful was upheld and the red card withdrawn.
