This was the first goalless draw at the Britannia Stadium since the Premier League visit of Cardiff City on 4 December 2013. During his reign with five different clubs, current Potters boss Mark Hughes remained unbeaten in his last eight home games in the Premier League against Arsenal (won five).

League position: 1st Arsenal returned to the top of the table with their first goalless draw in an away game since their Premier League visit to Aston Villa on 24 November 2012. After 22 games, only Manchester United (11) had now kept more clean sheets than the Gunners (10) in the Premier League in this season.
