Match Report As expected, from the offset Spain monopolised possession. Fabregas had hit the post within 10 minutes. Iniesta also went close after a flowing move. The opening goal deservedly came. Pedro's deflected shot founds its way into the back of the next via a deflection from Lugano. It went down as an own goal. The second goal came from a stunning Spanish move. Fabregas slid Soldado through who finished well. Uruguay were struggling and Suarez and Cavani could not get into the game. Uruguay's first opening came with a tame Cavani header from a free kick. In the second period the Spanish domination continued. Iniesta went close after some great skill on the edge of the box. Out of nothing a stunning Suarez free kick to set up an interesting finish. In the closing minutes when through on goal, Soldado was clearly caught only for the referee to wave play on. Spain looked impressive in this one and probably deserved to win by a greater margin. Uruguay will now need results in their other two matches to progress to the next stage. Preview Kick-off: 7.00pm local (11.00pm BST) Uruguay will line up against Spain in this clash of the South American and European champions. Uruguay will be keen to put the disappointment of last summer's Olympics behind them. They will see this tournament as key in order to raise confidence for their World Cup Qualifying campaign which is currently in the balance. The experienced Diego Forlan will likely keep his place in a front three alongside Suarez and Cavani. Despite his captain's advancing yearsm, coach Oscar Tabarez will keep faith in Diego Lugano. Vicente Del Bosque will stick to the same system which has brought him consecutive major championships. Midfielders Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets will sit deep and look to monopolise possession. Despite a disappointing campaign David Villa, Spanish record goalscorer, will get the nod as the central striker.
