Comments:

League position: 12th Before this game, Southampton had lost four of their last five Premier League games and had gone five league games without keeping a clean sheet. The Saints had now lost only one of their last eight Premier League games played on Boxing Day (won four). Southampton won on Boxing Day in 2014 to go in to fourth position in the Premier League.

Comments:

League position: 2nd This was Arsenal’s 4,000th game in the top division. On a day when a win would have taken them to the top of the table, this was the Gunners' heaviest Premier League defeat since a 6-0 loss at Chelsea in March 2014. This was only the second time that they had lost a top division game on a Boxing Day by at least a four-goal margin. The other occasion was a 5-0 loss at Manchester United in 1910. (c/o Infostrada)
