League position: 18th This was Queens Park Rangers' 50th home defeat in the Premier League. QPR remained without a win in their last 13 London derbies in the Premier League (drawn three and lost ten) since they won at Chelsea on 2 January 2013. The Hoops had now lost their last seven home games, including six in the Premier League. They had now conceded the opening goal in 24 of their 33 Premier League games in this season, the most in the division. Armand Traore was originally named amongst the substitutes before suffering an injury during the pre-match warm-up. His place on the bench was taken by Aaron Mitchell.

League position: 1st This was Chelsea's 700th game since Roman Abramovich became the club's owner in June 2003. So far, the Blues had lifted 14 major honours in his 12-year tenure. Cesc Fabregas' late winner was the Blues 100th goal in all competitions in the 2014-15 season. Eden Hazard made his 100th appearance in the Premier League in this game. This was only Chelsea's second win in their last 14 league visits to neighbours Queens Park Rangers (drawn six and lost six). This win completed the Blues' first league double over QPR since 1981-82 in League Division Two. Chelsea had now have scored the opening goal in 25 of their 31 Premier League games in this season although this was only the second time in their last 16 Premier League games that they had failed to score before half-time.
