Comments:

This became Newport County's biggest-ever defeat in the League Cup; previously 5-0 by Swansea City on 15 August 1978.

Comments:

This result became Southampton's biggest-ever away win. They had previously recorded 6-0 away victories on four occasions; most recently at Milton Keynes Dons in the League Cup in September 2015. It also equalled the Saints' biggest-ever winning margin. They also beat Sunderland 8-0 a St Mary's Stadium in the Premier League on 18 October 2014. They had now only once scored more than eight goals in a game; a 9-3 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the League Division Two on 18 September 1965.
