Comments:

Final league position 2014-15: 15th On this final day of the season, Newcastle United would have been relegated to the League Championship had they failed to win this game and Hull City had beaten Manchester United at the KC Stadium (they drew 0-0). Prior to this match, Newcastle United had gone ten Premier League games without a win (one drawn) for the first time since May 2009 when they were relegated. This was only the Magpies’ second clean sheet in their last 15 Premier League matches. Newcastle United had now won their final Premier League game of the season for the first time since May 2006 (two draws and five defeats). Jonas Gutierrez scored his first goal since returning to the team following treatment for testicular cancer. The Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel ruled on the following: - Newcastle United’s second goal against West Ham United on Sunday 24th May 2015 has been confirmed as a Jonas Gutierrez goal. (Circular 30 – 28th May 2015)
