League position: 18th Having made their worst start to a league season since 1898-99, at the ninth attempt, this was Newcastle United's first win in the Premier League in 2015-16. They recorded their first win of a Premier League campaign on 18 October for the second season in a row. Georginio Wijnaldum became only the second player to score four goals in a Premier League game for Newcastle United. Alan Shearer netted five against Sheffield Wednesday on 19 September 1999. Georginio also became the second Dutchman to score four in a Premier League game after Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink for Chelsea against Coventry City on 21 October 2000. It was the second time in his career that he had scored four goals in a game. He also acheived the feat for Feyenoord in an Eredivisie game against FC Groningen on 27 February 2011. This was Newcastle United's 900th home win in England's top division (played 1,680). This was the first time that the Toon had scored six goals in the Premier League since a 6-0 win against Aston Villa on 22 August 2010. The Magpies had scored a total of six goals in their other eight games in the Premier League in 2015-16. United had won just one of their preceding 19 Premier League games (lost 14) and lost 1-6 in their last game at Manchester City. Nathan Redmond's goal was the first scored by an Englishman in Newcastle United's Premier League games in this season. The Premier League's Goal Accreditation Panel ruled on the following: - Newcastle United's sixth goal against Norwich City on Sunday 18th October 2015 has been confirmed as a Georginio Wijnaldum goal. (Circular 8 - 22nd October 2015)
