Comments:

League position: 7th This was Manchester United's biggest home defeat since Tottenham Hotspur's 6-1 win in the Premier League on 4 October 2020. United had now failed to keep a clean sheet in 13 consecutive home games in all competitions for the first time since February 1964. The Red Devils had now conceded four or more goals in consecutive visits to Old Trafford by the same opponent since Burnley in League Division One in 1961-62 and 1962-63 (1-4 and 2-5). Cristiano Ronaldo scored after 52 minutes but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to an offside decision. Paul Pogba was initially shown a yellow card after 59 minutes but was upgraded to a red card following a VAR review.

Comments:

League position: 2nd Liverpool became England’s first top division team to score three or more goals in nine consecutive away games in all competitions. They had now won consecutive away league games by a margin of five or more for a second time; also 5-0 at Rotherham Town and 7-0 at Burton Swifts in League Division Two in 1895-96. With his fourth hat-trick for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah became the first player to score for the Reds in ten consecutive appearances, to score in each of their first five away games of a league season since Sam Raybould in 1902 and in three consecutive appearances for them at Manchester United. This was the first time that they had scored four or more goals in the first half of an away game in the Premier League game since the visit to Wigan Athletic on 2 December 2006 (won 4-0).
