Comments:

League position: 6th Manchester United avoided finishing outside of the top six of the top division at the end of a year for the first time since 1989. United avoided losing seven home league games in a year for the first time since 1986. The Red Devils scored three goals in the first-half of a game in the Premier League for the first time since their 9-0 win against Southampton on 2 February 2021 (4-0 at half time).

Comments:

League position: 18th Burnley had now won one of their 16 games so far in this Premier League season; only in 1889-90 in League Division One and 1979-80 in League Division Two had they won fewer games at this stage of a league season. The Clarets were now without a win in their last ten away games in the Premier League (lost six). Although 34 year-old Aaron Lennon scored for the first time in his 23 career appearances against Manchester United in the Premier League, he also scored for the Clarets against the Red Devils in a pre-season friendly at Old Trafford on 17 August 2021. Burnley named seven of a possible nine substitutes.
