Comments:

League position: 3rd After scoring five goals in each of their last two games at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City failed to score in a home game for the first time since the goalless draw in the 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid on 26 April 2016. City had now kept three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for first time since September 2015. This was only the second clean sheet they had kept in their last 14 home games in all competitions. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said: "They defended deep and it was complicated to find the players between the lines. We were there in the last minutes. I don't have regrets about how they ran, how they fought."

Comments:

League position: 9th Stoke City had lost five of their preceding six away games in the Premier League. The Potters had yet to win a game in this Premier League against a team that was currently in 11th position or higher. They had now failed to score in each of their last three away games in the Premier League. Stoke City manager Mark Hughes: "We didn't rely on luck. We made our own luck and were difficult to break down. You can see what it meant tonight and that shows the honesty of the group."
